AIVA documents human anatomical variation: the non-pathological differences in the shape, course and number of the structures of the body. It is a documentation and study resource, addressed to readers who already have anatomical training — students, healthcare professionals, researchers — and to anyone who wishes to consult it out of interest.

• It is not medical advice. No content refers to a specific person, and none of the people writing here knows the reader’s case.
• It is not a clinical guideline and does not describe diagnostic or therapeutic procedures to be applied to a patient.
• It does not replace examination of the individual case, imaging, operative findings or the judgement of the professional caring for the person.
• It is not a service that answers personal clinical questions: the editorial team does not take them on.

The variations described on the portal are non-pathological anatomical differences: many are asymptomatic and are found by chance. The presence of a variation does not in itself indicate disease, and its absence rules none out.

The clinical meaning of a finding depends on the context in which it was observed. Assigning one from a documentary entry, without that context, is a methodological error before it is a risk.

Anyone with a symptom, a doubt about their health or a report to interpret should consult their own doctor. In an emergency the single European emergency number is 112. This portal must not be used to decide whether to see a doctor, nor to postpone that decision.

Every article declares the scrutiny it received, and the levels are not equivalent. None of them, however, turns documentary content into a clinical recommendation: review concerns the accuracy of what is written, not its applicability to a person.
