Part of the entries published here is the Italian translation of somebody else’s work, not a text written for this portal. The work is:

This is not an authorised import: nobody granted us an individual permission. It is a translation allowed by the public licence under which the work is distributed, and it must be declared for what it is.

• Attribution — authors, title of the work, licence and the changes made must be stated. That is what this page does, and it is repeated on the page of every translated entry.
• Non-commercial use — the work and its translations may not be exploited for commercial purposes.
• Share alike — every derivative work, translation included, carries the same licence as the original. This is not an editorial preference: at publication time the portal refuses any other licence for content derived from this work.

• The English text was translated into Italian. The English version of each entry keeps the original, so the translation stays comparable without leaving the portal.
• The content was reorganised into the portal’s entry format — summary, text, references — without altering its claims.
• The figures were not copied: they stay where they are published.

The illustrations of the translated entries were not downloaded, reproduced or optimised on this site: they stay on the server of whoever publishes them and are displayed from there, with the credit always visible next to the figure and a link to the source page.

One consequence is worth knowing: to display those images the reader’s browser contacts the source site directly. The portal does not tell it which page was being read, but the request comes from the reader’s device.

The translated entries are distributed under the same licence as the source work, CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. The “share alike” clause leaves no alternative, and whoever reuses them is bound by the same obligations: attribution, non-commercial use, same licence on any further derivative.

The default licence for content written for this portal is CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. It applies to original texts: translations and adaptations follow the licence of the work they derive from.

This is the default for new articles, not a rule that overrides declarations already published: the licence that counts is the one stated at the foot of each article.

Anyone reusing content from this portal must state authors, title, the name of the portal, the licence declared on that article and a link to the source page. If the content is itself a translation, the attribution extends to the original work and its authors: the chain does not break.
